Disclaimer

The React-Luma Theme enhances only frontend browser rendering performance and has no impact on Magento 2’s real performance. In contrast, Hyvä and ignoble Agencies often create the misleading information that a Theme/skin alone can significantly improve Magento’s performance and traffic handling when, in reality, it does not.

Google PageSpeed Insights (PSI) is not a full performance metric but rather a frontend optimization tool because it focuses mainly on web browser rendering speed and UX best practices rather than actual Magento 2 performance.

Why Google PageSpeed is NOT a True Magento Performance Metric

1. Only Measures Frontend (Client-Side) Performance

- Focuses on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and network speed.
- Doesn't measure server response time, database queries, or Magento backend logic.

2. Lighthouse Scores Are Simulated, Not Real-World

3. Ignores main Magento 2 Performance aspect - Backend

- Doesn't analyze server CPU, RAM, database queries, Magento Freamwork processing.
- A slow website won’t lower your PSI score.

This screenshot shows a page with a response time of 4.7 seconds(I put a delay in the PHP code to emulate this case), yet it still achieves a 99 Google PageSpeed Score. This highlights a major issue in how PageSpeed Insights evaluates performance—it doesn’t truly reflect real-world user experience. Many merchants rely on these scores to make decisions, and for the agencies, it is a way to deceive. This loophole has become a tool for modern-day scammers, who manipulate superficial Magento 2 metrics to sell services that don’t improve actual performance. Chasing high scores and Web Vitals instead of core Magento speed optimizations misleads businesses and wastes resources. Magento 2 Hyva Google Page Speed Scam

4. Focuses on Web Vitals & Best Practices

- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).
- Looks for image optimizations, lazy loading, caching, and content size.

5. Misleading for customized eCommerce with the traffic

- eCommerce pages with heavy backend processing can be slow but still score high on PSI.
- Full Page Cached (FPC) pages can have high scores when, in reality, they are slow.

What Are True Performance Metrics?

To measure real performance, you should use:
- Time to First Byte (TTFB) -> Magento 2 Framework response speed
- Database Query Performance and throughput -> Slow queries affect speed
- Redis Server Performace -> Slow server and high request rate is a performance bottleneck
- Load Testing -> Simulates heavy traffic to find weak points
- Server and Hosting/Cloud Performance -> Bad-designed hosting like Adobe Commerce Cloud(Platform.sh) negatively affects performance

What Are True Performance Metrics?

Google PageSpeed is just a "frontend speed" score, not a full Magento performance metric.
To get a real Magento 2 performance picture, use backend monitoring, load testing, and real user profiling.

While the React-Luma theme focuses on optimizing frontend browser rendering, it does not enhance the core performance of Magento 2. Similarly, claims that themes like Hyvä can improve overall Magento performance may be misleading, as backend optimizations require deeper infrastructure and application-level improvements. Always evaluate performance solutions based on your specific business needs and technical requirements. Beware of Scam!
